Israel and Azerbaijan are actively strengthening their strategic partnership across multiple sectors, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced during a joint press briefing with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the minister emphasized both nations' commitment to peace, noting that diplomatic relations have significantly expanded and deepened since their establishment. Saar highlighted that the opening of the Israeli embassy in Baku three years ago served as a pivotal step in consolidating this strategic alliance.
Saar further underscored the intent to broaden economic cooperation, noting that a large delegation, including over 40 representatives from the Israeli Ministry of Economy, accompanied him to Azerbaijan. He added that tourism between the two nations is on the rise, with expectations for even higher figures by 2026. The minister also extended an official invitation to Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to visit Israel: "I look forward to welcoming you to our country. Together, we will take our strategic partnership to new heights," he stated.
During the briefing, Saar also discussed progress in regional stability, mentioning efforts to curb nuclear ambitions and the normalization process with Armenia facilitated by US President Donald Trump. He congratulated Azerbaijan on its role in promoting regional peace and highly valued the country's efforts in this field.
The relationship between Azerbaijan and Israel is characterized by strong cooperation in energy, security, and technology. Azerbaijan is a major supplier of oil to Israel, while Israel provides advanced technological solutions and equipment to Azerbaijan. This multifaceted cooperation has evolved into a robust strategic alliance that contributes to the stability and economic development of both the South Caucasus and the Middle East regions.
