Fransa iki iranlı diplomatı ölkədən çıxarır: Diplomatik böhran dərinləşir

Diplomatic tensions between France and Iran have escalated significantly following a series of hostile incidents involving embassy personnel.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the French government has decided to expel two Iranian diplomats in response to what it described as a "deliberate attack" and ongoing pressure against two staff members of its embassy in Tehran.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot announced on the social media platform X that the expulsion would be carried out in the near future. The minister condemned the incident, which occurred on July 19, as "intolerable" and emphasized that such actions would not remain without consequences.

In response, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei rejected the French position. He claimed that the two French embassy employees had violated the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. Tehran subsequently declared those diplomats "persona non grata" and banned them from entering the country, accusing them of interfering in Iran's internal affairs and supporting civil society activities.

France has categorically denied these accusations. French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pascal Confavreux stated that Iranian authorities are fabricating "false and fictitious" claims to justify their actions against the diplomats. Reports indicate that in July, Iranian security forces detained two French embassy employees and subjected them to physical pressure.

Following the incident, France summoned Iran's chargé d'affaires in Paris to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lodge a formal protest. The European Union has also condemned the incident, further increasing pressure on Tehran against the backdrop of already strained Paris-Tehran relations.

This diplomatic row highlights the fragile state of relations between Western nations and Iran. Historically, such expulsions often serve as a barometer for broader geopolitical friction, reflecting deep-seated disagreements over regional security, human rights, and nuclear non-proliferation efforts.
