Fransada rekord istilər – 22 günlük istilik dalğası ölkəni bürüdü

France is grappling with an intense heatwave that began in late July, leading to the registration of new temperature records across the country. According to data from Meteo-France, the heatwave, which commenced on July 28 and persisted for 22 days, marks one of the longest heat periods in the nation's history, second only to the 23-day record set in 1983.

Meteorological authorities reported that the heatwave peaked on July 29, August 12, and August 14, with temperatures reaching record highs in various regions. France experienced its hottest July since 1990, with the national average temperature recorded at 24.9 degrees Celsius.

Compounding the heat, a 70 percent decrease in precipitation has made this July the third driest month in French history. Experts warn that the combination of extreme temperatures and significantly reduced rainfall has exacerbated drought conditions, substantially increasing the risk of forest fires. The scale of wildfires in France this year has been particularly severe, with reports indicating that over 117,000 hectares of land have been destroyed by blazes.

Heatwaves in Europe have become increasingly frequent and intense in recent years, a trend that climate scientists attribute to broader global climate change patterns. These extreme weather events often place significant strain on national infrastructure, agricultural sectors, and public health systems, necessitating comprehensive long-term adaptation strategies.
