Armenia is moving toward the establishment of a dedicated government body for artificial intelligence, following proposed amendments to the law "On the structure and activity of the government."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Armenian media, the proposal suggests renaming the current Ministry of High-Tech Industry to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence. The restructured entity is expected to be responsible for the development and implementation of state policy in the fields of artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.
The initiative comes as countries globally seek to centralize the regulation of emerging technologies to foster innovation and digital security. By formalizing AI governance, the government aims to streamline the integration of automated systems into the public and private sectors, reflecting a broader regional trend toward digital transformation and the modernization of state administrative frameworks.
