The Baku Military Court has delivered its verdict in the ongoing trial of seven Armenian citizens accused of committing grave crimes against peace and humanity, as well as war crimes. The court handed down significant prison sentences following a comprehensive judicial process.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the ruling, Melikset Pashayan was sentenced to 19 years, Garik Martirosyan to 18 years, Davit Allahverdiyean to 16 years, Levon Balayan to 16 years, Vasili Beglaryan to 15 years, Gurgen Stepanyan to 15 years, and Erik Gazaryan to 15 years of imprisonment.
The defendants were found guilty of numerous offenses resulting from military aggression against Azerbaijan, including the preparation and conduct of aggressive war, genocide, violation of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, and the illegal seizure and retention of power. These proceedings are part of Azerbaijan's commitment to establishing legal accountability for crimes committed during the conflict in the Garabagh region. The trial, which officially commenced on January 17, 2025, concluded after the judicial panel entered deliberations on December 26 to finalize the sentences in accordance with the criminal code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
