Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced plans to strengthen cooperation with member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in the fields of cybersecurity, digitalization, and the defense industry.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Turkish leader made these remarks during an informal OTS Summit, emphasizing the growing importance of digital sovereignty for the Turkic world.

According to President Erdogan, cybersecurity in the modern world is as vital as security on land, in the air, and at sea. "During Turkiye's chairmanship, we intend to bring coordination and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity within the OTS to a higher level," he stated.

The Turkish leader also emphasized the importance of the widespread implementation of a common Turkic alphabet in education, culture, academic cooperation, and digital transformation. Furthermore, Erdogan advocated for supporting projects based on artificial intelligence, including a Turkic language model that would increase the presence of Turkic languages in the digital space.

The Organization of Turkic States, formerly the Turkic Council, has increasingly focused on regional integration and security cooperation among its members, which include Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, and Uzbekistan. This push for digital and technological alignment follows a series of high-level agreements aimed at fostering economic and cultural unity across the Turkic-speaking geography, stretching from the Balkans to Central Asia.
