President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron made a phone call to President Ilham Aliyev on March 8.

The Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan reported that the French leader expressed his country's solidarity and support for Azerbaijan in connection with the recent aerial threats from Iran, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.

During the conversation, Emmanuel Macron expressed his gratitude to the head of state for the conditions created for the evacuation of French citizens from Iran through the territory of Azerbaijan. President Ilham Aliyev thanked his French counterpart for the phone call and the demonstrated solidarity.

The leaders also conducted an exchange of views on strengthening peace in the South Caucasus region and the revitalization of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France. The sides discussed various issues related to the prospects of future cooperation between the two nations.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and France have historically covered a wide range of economic and cultural spheres. This high-level communication comes at a significant time for regional security, as Azerbaijan continues to strengthen its international partnerships and its role as a key transit and logistics hub in the Eurasia region. The dialogue underscores the importance of Baku as a strategic mediator in complex regional evacuations and security matters.
