Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev has provided clarification regarding the recent decision by the Ministry's Collegium concerning the use of mobile phones and electronic devices by students during school hours.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the minister spoke at an event titled "Certification: Competent Teacher - Quality Education," where he emphasized that students using mobile phones for calls, gaming, or other non-educational purposes during lessons negatively impacts the learning process.
Minister Amrullayev noted that there is a necessity to implement unified regulations regarding the use of such devices:
"It is not prohibited for students to bring phones to school. However, the use of phones during lessons is unacceptable, and they must be stored in accordance with established rules. Exceptions are only possible in emergency or urgent situations. The goal is not to prevent phones from being brought to school, but to ensure that their use during class does not hinder the educational process."
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan to enhance classroom discipline and focus. By minimizing digital distractions, the ministry aims to foster a more conducive learning environment, ensuring that students remain engaged with the curriculum and their instructors throughout the school day.
