Azerbaijan recorded the world’s second-largest improvement, with an overall increase of 63 points compared with the PISA results released in 2022.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Minister of Science and Education Emin Amrullayev made the remarks at the presentation of the results of PISA 2025, the Programme for International Student Assessment.

He said that 80–90 percent of the students assessed in 2029 would be children who had attended preschool preparation programs, which would have a significant positive impact on the results.

“According to the results, Azerbaijan is among the top 50 countries, while Baku is among the top 30 economies. We are one of the countries showing the strongest improvement. In the PISA 2025 mathematics assessment, the leading performers were Singapore, Macao (China), Chinese Taipei, Japan and Korea. Baku scored 63 points in mathematics, demonstrating progress compared with its previous result.”

PISA is an international assessment conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development that measures the knowledge and skills of 15-year-old students in areas including mathematics, reading and science. The program is designed to compare education outcomes and identify factors influencing student performance.
