The State Border Service of Azerbaijan maintains strict control over the country's borders to ensure national security and prevent illegal migration. The Khudat border detachment, located in the northern region of the country, is responsible for securing a significant portion of the border between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, a route that is occasionally targeted by individuals attempting to bypass official border checkpoints.
