Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan has held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye, Hakan Fidan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that the ministers discussed the current security situation and rising tensions in the region.
During the conversation, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov strongly condemned today's missile attack on the territory of the Republic of Turkiye and expressed Azerbaijan's unwavering support for the brotherly nation. It was emphasized that further expansion of military escalation could lead to undesirable consequences for regional stability. The ministers also exchanged views on other bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest.
Azerbaijan and Turkiye maintain a strategic alliance based on the Shusha Declaration, which outlines a framework for defense cooperation and mutual support. This high-level communication reflects the "one nation, two states" philosophy that guides the diplomatic relations between Baku and Ankara, particularly concerning security threats and regional peace initiatives in the South Caucasus and beyond.
