Azerbaijan and Pakistan discuss Middle East tensions

Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held a telephone conversation with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, to discuss pressing regional security issues.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told Operative Information Center-OMM that the ministers exchanged views on the military escalation and increasing tensions observed in the Middle East region. Emphasizing the impact of the current situation on regional and global security, the sides noted the importance of adhering to international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians and civilian objects. Furthermore, the necessity of resolving issues through dialogue and diplomatic means based on the norms and principles of international law was highlighted.

During the conversation, the Pakistani side provided information regarding the current situation following clashes on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The ministers also reviewed the current state and future development perspectives of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.

The relationship between Baku and Islamabad is characterized by a high level of strategic cooperation, particularly in the fields of defense, energy, and trade. Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence and has consistently supported the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. This latest high-level contact underscores the commitment of both nations to maintaining stability in their respective regions and coordinating their positions on the international stage.
