A series of powerful earthquakes has struck multiple regions across the United States, Japan, and Venezuela within the last 24 hours, causing significant damage and loss of life.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing data from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred near Redwood Valley in the U.S. state of California. The epicenter of the seismic activity was recorded 11 kilometers north of the settlement at a depth of 8.8 kilometers.

Simultaneously, a 6.9-magnitude earthquake was reported off the coast of the Iwate Prefecture in northeastern Japan. The tremor, which occurred near the city of Kuji at a depth of 51.7 kilometers, did not trigger a tsunami warning. Local media outlets report that at least six individuals sustained injuries during the event.

Furthermore, Venezuela experienced two consecutive, high-magnitude earthquakes. A 7.5-magnitude tremor was recorded 23 kilometers southeast of Yumare in Yaracuy State, followed 39 seconds later by a 7.2-magnitude earthquake 24 kilometers northeast of San Felipe. Delcy Rodriguez, the interim head of state of Venezuela, confirmed that the natural disaster has resulted in 32 fatalities and over 700 injuries.

Seismic activity is a common occurrence globally, as the Earth's crust is divided into tectonic plates that constantly shift. Major earthquakes, such as those exceeding magnitude 7.0, often cause substantial structural damage and require immediate international emergency response coordination to manage humanitarian impacts and search-and-rescue operations.
