Azerbaijan has repeatedly informed the Iranian side that its territory will never be used for operations against any neighboring state, President Ilham Aliyev stated during a meeting of the Security Council.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized Baku's firm commitment to regional stability and non-interference. "We will not allow this, just as we have never allowed it until today. Despite the unfounded accusations leveled against us by Iran since last summer, our position remains unchanged. Media resources under the control of Iranian state institutions have conducted smear campaigns against Azerbaijan to influence the perceptions of our compatriots living in Iran. They are well aware that the independent state of Azerbaijan serves as a beacon of hope for many Azerbaijanis living in Iran," President Ilham Aliyev noted.
The President further clarified that Azerbaijan has no interest or policy that involves participating in military operations against neighbors. "Azerbaijan did not participate then, and will not participate now or in the future, in any operations against Iran. Our policy is focused on protecting our own territorial integrity and maintaining peaceful relations within the region," the head of state added. This statement reinforces Azerbaijan's long-standing foreign policy doctrine of balanced neutrality and its role as a stabilizing factor in the South Caucasus, ensuring that the country does not become an arena for geopolitical confrontations between external powers and regional neighbors.
