The Main Department for Combating Narcotics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) continues its targeted operations aimed at preventing the illicit sale and distribution of narcotic substances across Azerbaijan.

The MIA press service informed Operative Information Center-OMM that during recent operations conducted in the Garadagh and Surakhani districts of Baku, three individuals—Ceyhun Heydarov, Maharram Ibrahimov, and Elvin Asgarov—were detained. All three suspects had prior criminal records related to drug offenses. A total of 46 kilograms of narcotic substances, including heroin and methamphetamine, were seized from the suspects.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the detainees were organizing the illegal distribution of narcotics that had been smuggled into the country under the instructions of drug traffickers residing abroad. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the court has ordered pre-trial detention for the suspects as the investigation continues.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan frequently conducts such large-scale operations as part of its ongoing national strategy to combat organized crime and drug trafficking. These efforts are critical in maintaining public safety and curbing the influence of transnational criminal networks attempting to utilize the country as a transit route for illicit substances.
