Disproportionate flag sizes at the World Economic Forum lead to organizational adjustments

The display of national flags of varying sizes at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, has sparked discussions among participants and observers.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing sources from Politico, that the issue arose at the Congress Centre, the primary venue for the high-level summit.

According to the report, after flags of various nations were hoisted onto the roof of the Congress Centre, it became noticeably apparent that the British Union Jack was significantly larger than those of other countries. This visual discrepancy drew immediate attention from attendees and international delegations present at the summit.

Politico noted that forum participants criticized the organizers for the lack of proportionality, viewing it as a breach of diplomatic protocol. Following the feedback, organizers reportedly decided to replace the oversized flag with an alternative that better aligns with the dimensions of the other national symbols on display.

The World Economic Forum, held annually in the Swiss alpine resort of Davos, is one of the world's most influential gatherings, bringing together global political leaders, business executives, and intellectuals to discuss pressing international issues. Azerbaijan is a regular participant in the forum, with President Ilham Aliyev frequently leading delegations to engage in high-level economic and energy security dialogues. Strict adherence to protocol and symbolic equality among nations are considered essential elements of the forum's diplomatic environment.
