"The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is observing an active buildup of NATO forces along the western borders of its area of responsibility and is closely monitoring the alliance's military activities."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this statement was made by Viktor Vasilyev, the current chair of the CSTO Permanent Council.
Vasilyev emphasized that the organization is particularly focused on the strengthening of NATO's military presence in the Baltic states. He noted that while he would not delve into the specifics of ongoing special military operations or individual maneuvers, the proximity of these activities to CSTO borders remains a primary concern for the organization's security monitoring.
“We see an active increase in NATO forces along our western borders, primarily in the Baltic countries. These activities are, naturally, a subject of our serious scrutiny,” Vasilyev stated.
The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is an intergovernmental military alliance in Eurasia that consists of several post-Soviet states. Established to ensure collective security among its member nations, the organization frequently monitors geopolitical shifts and military exercises conducted by external alliances, such as NATO, particularly when those activities occur near the borders of its member states.
