Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov of the Republic of Azerbaijan held a meeting with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan reported that the discussions focused on the current state and future development of the friendly, brotherly, and mutually respectful relations between the two nations. Both sides emphasized that high-level reciprocal visits and active political dialogue have significantly contributed to the expansion of bilateral cooperation.
The ministers exchanged views on opportunities to develop cooperation in trade, economy, energy, transport-transit, logistics, shipping, humanitarian, and cultural spheres. In this context, they highlighted the importance of strengthening regional connectivity and utilizing the full potential of the Middle Corridor, a crucial transit route connecting Central Asia and Europe via the Caspian Sea. The meeting also addressed cooperation within international and regional organizations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to mutual support within the UN and other multilateral platforms.
Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan share a long history of diplomatic relations, deeply rooted in common cultural and historical ties. As key players in the Caspian region, both nations have increasingly aligned their strategic interests, particularly in energy security and transit infrastructure, aiming to enhance the efficiency of trans-Caspian trade routes and regional stability.
