The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into a near-collision incident involving two passenger aircraft at Boston Logan International Airport in Massachusetts. The incident, which occurred last weekend, has raised significant concerns regarding runway safety protocols, according to reports from ABC News.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the incident took place as a Delta Air Lines flight arriving from Dallas, Texas, was preparing for landing. Simultaneously, an American Airlines aircraft was taxiing on the same runway, preparing for takeoff. To avert a potential catastrophe, the pilots of the Delta flight were forced to abort their landing and execute an emergency go-around maneuver.

Reports indicate that the two aircraft came dangerously close to one another, with a separation distance of only 90 meters (300 feet) at the closest point. The FAA investigation team is currently examining the precise causes of the runway incursion to determine whether air traffic control errors or communication failures contributed to the hazardous situation.

Runway incursions remain a critical focus for aviation safety regulators globally. The FAA frequently conducts rigorous audits and investigations into such events to enhance airport safety standards and prevent future operational lapses in busy aviation hubs like Boston Logan.
