Up to 300 parallel sessions, meetings, and events are scheduled to take place daily in Baku as part of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13). The international event, which will be held from May 17 to 22, is set to transform the capital into a global hub for urban development discussions.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev was briefed on the ongoing preparations during his visit to the Baku Olympic Stadium area. It was reported that the designated venue provides all necessary conditions for holding various official and business meetings simultaneously across multiple formats, ensuring a seamless experience for international delegates.
WUF13 is organized in close cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The forum serves as the world’s premier conference on urban issues, focusing on sustainable urbanization, the implementation of "smart city" technologies, and innovative urban solutions. Azerbaijan's hosting of this prestigious event underscores its growing role in international diplomacy and its commitment to the New Urban Agenda, following the country's successful track record of hosting major global summits.
