Baku has introduced 10 new locations designated for passenger drop-off and taxi stands, specifically positioned near major medical and social service facilities. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to optimize urban traffic management and improve accessibility for citizens in the capital.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the project involved reconfiguring existing parking spaces. To facilitate these changes, authorities have installed "3.28" (No Stopping) and "5.14" (Taxi Stand) road signs, alongside informational signage on dedicated traffic lanes.
The implementation of these zones is a strategic move by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport to reduce traffic congestion and enhance public safety. By formalizing drop-off points near high-traffic areas such as DOST centers, ASAN service centers, and medical institutions, the city aims to minimize illegal parking and ensure smoother transit operations for both taxi drivers and passengers. These measures reflect the broader modernization of Baku's transport infrastructure, aligning with international urban planning standards to create a more efficient and accessible city environment.
The newly designated zones are located at the following addresses:
- Javadkhan Street, in front of the National Ophthalmology Center named after Zarifa Aliyeva (drop-off zone);
- Ismayil bey Gutgashinli Street, near Baku DOST Center No. 1 (drop-off zone);
- Heydar Aliyev Avenue, near Baku DOST Center No. 3 (drop-off zone);
- Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, in front of Baku DOST Center No. 4 (drop-off zone in the bus lane);
- Abbas Mirza Sharifzade Street, in front of Baku ASAN Service Center No. 3 (drop-off zone);
- 9th Cross Street, near Baku ASAN Service Center No. 5 (drop-off zone);
- Huseynbala Aliyev Street, near Memar Ajami metro station (drop-off zone);
- Suleyman Sani Akhundov Street, near Azadlig Prospekti metro station (drop-off zone and taxi stand);
- Fuzuli Street, near 28 Mall (drop-off zone);
- Shamsi Badalbeyli Street, near 28 Mall (drop-off zone in the bus lane).
