A driver has been placed under administrative arrest in Baku for operating a vehicle while under the influence of narcotics. According to information provided by the Main State Traffic Police Department to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Baku resident Elyar Veyisov was intercepted by officers of the Environmental Control Traffic Police Unit while driving a Toyota for violating traffic regulations.
During the inspection of documents, the driver's erratic behavior raised suspicion among the officers. A subsequent investigation revealed that Veyisov had previously been held accountable for driving under the influence of drugs just six months ago. During the latest medical examination, the driver admitted to the repeated consumption of narcotics. Given the recurrence of the illegal act, a court sentenced Elyar Veyisov to 15 days of administrative detention and revoked his driving privileges for a period of two years.
The Main State Traffic Police Department of Azerbaijan reiterated that operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs poses a severe threat to the lives and health of all road users. The agency emphasized that decisive and consistent measures against such unlawful actions will continue across the country to ensure public safety and uphold traffic laws in Azerbaijan.
