President Ilham Aliyev discussed global colonial trends and the activities of the Baku Initiative Group during the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state noted that the Azerbaijani government has been accused of interfering in France's internal affairs. "We believe that human rights are a universal issue. The Baku Initiative Group is perhaps one of the most effective NGOs today that has brought this issue (colonialism – ed.) onto the global agenda," the President added.
The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) was established in 2023 in Baku to support peoples struggling against colonialism in various parts of the world. Since its inception, the organization has actively collaborated with representatives from French overseas territories, providing a platform for their voices to be heard at international forums, including those held at the United Nations in Geneva and New York. The group's efforts focus on highlighting the ongoing challenges of neocolonialism and advocating for the fundamental rights of peoples living under colonial administration.
