On January 29, Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Azerbaijan, Birol Akgun, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral humanitarian ties.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the meeting focused on the current state and future development perspectives of cultural cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
Welcoming the ambassador, Minister Adil Kerimli stated that cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye are expanding annually and being enriched with new content. According to him, mutual participation in various international and regional cultural projects, continuous visits of creative collectives, and effective cooperation established between relevant institutions clearly demonstrate the dynamic development of relations in this field.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, Ambassador Birol Akgun emphasized that there are extensive opportunities for further deepening cultural ties between Türkiye and Azerbaijan. He noted the importance of joint projects and initiatives in this direction.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that the filming process in Türkiye for the movie “Molla Nasreddin: Friend of My Difficult Days,” a joint production of TURKSOY member states, has been completed. The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
Cultural diplomacy remains a cornerstone of the strategic partnership between Baku and Ankara, underpinned by the principle of "one nation, two states." This cooperation is further bolstered through organizations like TURKSOY, which promotes the shared Turkic heritage, and through bilateral agreements that facilitate academic exchanges, film co-productions, and the preservation of historical monuments across both countries.
