Azərbaycanda turizm sektorunda gözlənilən vacib dəyişiklik

A new state program aimed at developing the tourism sector in Azerbaijan includes provisions for subsidy support for infrastructure projects. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the quality of services across hotels and leisure centers in the country.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Florian Sengstschmid, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau under the State Tourism Agency, announced this during the event titled "Unlocking Azerbaijan's Tourism Potential to Ensure Economic Growth and Diversification" held in Baku.

According to Sengstschmid, the program is currently in the final stages of inter-governmental coordination and is designed to address key obstacles hindering tourism growth. "The document outlines measures to increase transport accessibility, improve 'last-mile' connectivity to tourist destinations, and implement subsidy mechanisms for the development of tourism infrastructure," he stated. He emphasized that tourism development requires a coordinated effort between state agencies and the private sector, covering areas such as road construction, water and electricity supply, and telecommunications. The primary objective of the new state program is to unify the activities of all relevant stakeholders under a single strategic framework.

The tourism sector has become a strategic priority for Azerbaijan's non-oil economic diversification. Following the restoration of territorial integrity, the government has been actively investing in the tourism potential of the liberated territories, including the development of the 'Karabakh' and 'East Zangezur' economic regions, which are being positioned as new hubs for eco-tourism and cultural heritage travel.
