Special forces of the Azerbaijan Army are participating in the “Zulfugar” joint military exercise focused on counter-terrorism and special operations, currently being held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan confirmed the deployment.
The exercise, conducted within the framework of military cooperation and training programs, involves personnel from the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Center of the Jordanian Armed Forces, as well as special forces units from Turkey and Pakistan.
The scenario for the joint drills includes a series of tactical activities simulating various operational environments, utilizing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), modern military equipment, and advanced systems. Participants are tasked with executing combat operations in urban areas, hostage rescue missions, and counter-terrorism maneuvers, alongside conducting live-fire exercises with various caliber weapons.
The primary objective of the “Zulfugar” exercise is to enhance the operational capabilities of the participating units, develop the combat readiness of special forces, strengthen coordination during joint operations, and facilitate the exchange of experience in the field of special operations.
Azerbaijan has been actively expanding its military cooperation with regional partners, including Turkey and Pakistan, through regular joint exercises. These drills are essential for aligning tactical procedures and ensuring interoperability among the armed forces of friendly nations, particularly in the context of modern asymmetric threats and counter-terrorism strategies.
