On March 12, the official representative office of the Azerbaijan Tourism Board in Türkiye, in cooperation with Absheron Hotel Group, organized an iftar dinner for representatives of the Turkish tourism industry in Istanbul.
The State Tourism Agency told Operative Information Center-OMM that a presentation showcasing Azerbaijan's tourism opportunities was delivered during the event. Participants were provided with detailed information regarding Azerbaijan's existing infrastructure for business events, as well as its potential for hosting international conferences and high-level gatherings.
The meeting, which continued with an iftar dinner, served as a platform for an exchange of views with tourism industry professionals and discussions on future cooperation opportunities. According to official data, the number of Turkish citizens visiting Azerbaijan in February of this year increased by 11% compared to the same month in 2025, reaching 34,829 people. Overall, during the January-February period, the number of visitors from Türkiye rose by 13% year-on-year, totaling 71,365 people.
The strengthening of tourism ties between Baku and Ankara reflects the broader strategic partnership and the "one nation, two states" philosophy that defines the relationship between the two countries. Azerbaijan has been actively investing in its tourism infrastructure, particularly in the capital, Baku, and the liberated territories, to position itself as a premier destination for both leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism in the region.
