Cooperation between the Prosecutor General's offices of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic in the fight against crime continues to yield successful results.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has confirmed the extradition of a foreign national wanted for criminal prosecution.
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan granted a request from its Kyrgyz counterpart for the extradition of Agamuhammet Annaberdiyev, a 1999-born citizen of Turkmenistan. Annaberdiyev had been placed on an international wanted list by Kyrgyz authorities for allegedly committing fraud that caused significant financial damage.
The suspect was located and detained in Azerbaijan in April 2026, at which point a preventive measure of arrest was imposed. Following the legal procedures mandated by the Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family, and Criminal Matters, dated October 7, 2002, the decision to extradite the individual was finalized. Annaberdiyev was subsequently transferred to the competent authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic, escorted by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan.
Extradition processes are a critical component of international judicial cooperation, allowing states to ensure that individuals accused of serious crimes face justice in the jurisdiction where the alleged offenses occurred. Azerbaijan consistently fulfills its international obligations regarding legal assistance, reinforcing its commitment to regional and global security frameworks.
