Azərbaycan 2032-ci ilədək 8 giqavat yaşıl enerji istehsal edəcək

Azerbaijan plans to generate between 6 and 8 gigawatts (GW) of electricity from alternative energy sources by 2032, signaling a major shift in the country's energy strategy.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev made this announcement during his speech at the 12th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council and the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council held in Baku.

The head of state emphasized the strategic importance of this transition, noting: "By 2032, we expect to obtain 6-8 gigawatts of electricity from alternative energy sources. Of course, this is a significant asset. Therefore, we must export it. We must use it for domestic demand to replace the natural gas currently used for electricity production. We must also provide conditions for a growing economy and industry, including our plans regarding the communication sector, artificial intelligence, and data centers."

This initiative is part of Azerbaijan's broader commitment to diversifying its energy portfolio and reducing carbon emissions. As a key player in European energy security, Azerbaijan is increasingly focusing on the "Green Energy Corridor" to export renewable power to international markets. The integration of green energy is expected to free up substantial volumes of natural gas for export while powering high-tech sectors such as AI and digital infrastructure within Azerbaijan.
