On June 18, Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Adil Karimli, who is currently on a visit to Rome, held a meeting with Italy's Minister of Culture Alessandro Ciuli.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the discussion focused on the current state of cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Italy and prospects for further developing cooperation.

It was noted that the "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of culture between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Activities and Tourism of the Italian Republic," exchanged during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Italy on February 20, 2020, holds special significance for the cultural partnership between the two nations.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the implementation of joint projects in areas such as cultural heritage preservation, museum management, creative industries, cinematography, music, and performing arts, as well as the expansion of cooperation between cultural institutions.

Minister Adil Karimli briefed his counterpart on the priorities of Azerbaijan's cultural policy, the strengthening of cultural diplomacy, and initiatives aimed at expanding international partnerships.

The sides exchanged views on organizing reciprocal cultural days, exhibition and concert programs, implementing professional exchange projects, and deepening institutional cooperation in the cultural sphere.

It was noted that the previous meeting between the culture ministers of Azerbaijan and Italy took place in Rome in December 2024. As a continuation of the agreements reached during that meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in developing cultural cooperation across new directions and implementing joint initiatives. A plan of action regarding the implementation of projects in the cultural sector was also discussed.
