The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan is actively working to repatriate original copies of valuable books and manuscripts that constitute the nation's cultural heritage from archives in Georgia and other countries. This initiative is part of a broader state strategy to preserve and restore the country's historical and literary legacy.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, Minister of Culture Adil Karimli announced these efforts during a public discussion held by the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee on Culture, titled "Current State and Development Prospects of the Library System."
According to the minister, concrete steps are being taken within the framework of bilateral agreements to secure these artifacts. "Work is underway to bring our valuable works, which are considered national treasures, back to the country and to enrich our museum collections. The National Library of Azerbaijan, in particular, is playing a very active role in this process," Karimli stated.
The repatriation of cultural heritage is a significant priority for Azerbaijan, reflecting the state's commitment to reclaiming artifacts dispersed across international archives over centuries. Such efforts are crucial for academic research, the preservation of national identity, and the enrichment of the country's archival and library holdings, ensuring that future generations have direct access to original historical documents.
