President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized that Azerbaijan prioritizes stability along its borders, noting that while the country faces no internal threats, external factors remain a primary focus. Speaking in an interview with Euronews in Davos on January 20, the head of state underlined the importance of a peaceful neighborhood for national and regional development.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev expressed concern regarding instances of instability in the region, specifically mentioning Iran. "For us, stability, predictability, and peace in the region are the greatest assets. We have suffered from occupation and war, losing thousands of lives. Today, peace and stability are the only ways for any country to achieve success," the President stated.
The President's remarks come during the World Economic Forum in Davos, an annual gathering of global political and business leaders. Azerbaijan has consistently used this platform to promote its role as a key player in regional energy security and as a strategic bridge between East and West. Following the restoration of its territorial integrity, Baku has shifted its focus toward large-scale reconstruction in Karabakh and East Zangezur, making regional peace a critical component of its long-term economic strategy and the broader development of the South Caucasus.
