Australia has discreetly deployed its elite Special Air Service (SAS) units to the Middle East amid escalating concerns over a potential conflict involving Iran. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from The Daily Telegraph, the special forces have been stationed at the Al Minhad air base in the United Arab Emirates.

Sources indicate that the deployment of these specialized units is not intended for direct combat operations. Instead, their primary mission is to ensure the security of Australian interests and facilitate potential evacuation operations, including the extraction of diplomatic personnel should the security situation in the region deteriorate further. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has previously emphasized that Canberra has no intention of engaging in military hostilities in the Middle East.

The Prime Minister stated that any movement of Australian troops in the region is strictly defensive in nature, dictated by the necessity to protect citizens and overseas assets. The Al Minhad air base serves as a critical logistics hub for Western forces in the Persian Gulf, providing a strategic vantage point for rapid response missions. This deployment reflects a broader international trend of increasing military readiness in the region to safeguard maritime routes and diplomatic corridors amid ongoing geopolitical volatility.
