Armenia and France are set to sign a document on strategic partnership during the upcoming state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Yerevan, scheduled for May 5.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was announced by Armenia's Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan during an interview with local television. The deputy minister noted that there is an extensive agenda for the development of relations between the two countries.
"The most important issue is the strategic partnership document, which has been under discussion for a long time. Finally, this document will be signed during the visit,"
Kostanyan added that several other agreements covering cooperation in various fields are also expected to be signed during the visit. Relations between France and Armenia have intensified significantly in recent years, particularly in the fields of defense and security, with France providing military equipment and diplomatic support to Yerevan. This deepening cooperation comes amid shifting geopolitical dynamics in the South Caucasus following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Baku has previously expressed concerns regarding the militarization of the region and has repeatedly called for a balanced approach to ensure long-term regional stability and peace.
