A serious road accident occurred on the Airport Highway in the Surakhani district of Baku, heading towards the airport, causing major disruptions to the capital's transport network.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs Intelligent Transport Management Center informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that the collision has resulted in heavy traffic density in both directions. Currently, officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs are on-site, implementing necessary measures to manage the congestion and restore the normal movement of vehicles.
The Airport Highway, which serves as the primary link between central Baku and the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, is one of the most critical and heavily trafficked arterial roads in Azerbaijan. Due to its strategic importance, any disruption on this route significantly impacts the city's logistics. Authorities often recommend that drivers utilize alternative routes, such as the Zigh highway, during such incidents to avoid prolonged delays. The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to emphasize the importance of adhering to speed limits and maintaining safe distances on high-speed suburban roads to ensure public safety.
