On June 16, in Paris, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Adil Karimli, held a meeting with the Chair of the UNESCO Executive Board, Dr. Nasser bin Hamad Al Hinzab, who also serves as Qatar's Permanent Representative to UNESCO.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the discussions centered on multilateral cooperation within the UNESCO framework, the protection of cultural heritage, the promotion of intercultural dialogue, and various international humanitarian initiatives.
Minister Adil Karimli emphasized the significance Azerbaijan attaches to its partnership with UNESCO, highlighting the country's ongoing contributions to the organization's global agenda. The two officials exchanged views on initiatives of mutual interest within the UNESCO platform, strategies to strengthen cooperation among member states, and the pivotal role of culture in fostering international development.
The meeting also addressed future prospects for collaboration, underscoring the commitment of both parties to deepening their engagement on key cultural and humanitarian issues.
UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, plays a critical role in promoting international collaboration through educational, scientific, and cultural reforms. Azerbaijan has been an active member of UNESCO since 1992, frequently collaborating on projects related to the preservation of historical monuments and the promotion of multiculturalism, which remains a cornerstone of the country's state policy.
