The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan is conducting continuous monitoring of library structures across the country to enhance their operational efficiency. This was announced by Minister of Culture Adil Karimli during a public hearing of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee on Culture, titled "Current State and Development Prospects of the Library System."
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Minister Karimli stated that extensive data has been collected over the past three years. "We are conducting analyses to ensure that the reforms implemented are results-oriented. Based on these findings, we have proposed a conceptual approach to make the system more efficient and sustainable," he noted.
Addressing public concerns, the Minister firmly rejected claims that the Ministry is closing libraries or neglecting the sector. "Such assertions are completely unacceptable. Libraries are a priority for the state, and they play a crucial role in shaping the information culture of our society," Karimli emphasized. He added that the Ministry has developed a new model for library management that aligns with international standards, ensuring that the sector evolves in accordance with modern global practices.
The library system in Azerbaijan serves as a vital component of the national cultural infrastructure, preserving the country's literary heritage while providing essential educational resources to the public. The ongoing reforms are part of a broader initiative by the Ministry of Culture to modernize cultural institutions and improve accessibility for citizens nationwide.
