Starting this year, approximately 1,000 information technology specialists employed within the library system in Azerbaijan will undergo a mandatory professional certification process.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Culture Minister Adil Karimli announced the initiative during a public discussion held by the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Committee on Culture, titled "Current State and Development Prospects of the Library System."

Minister Karimli stated that the certification process will expand next year to include all personnel performing library functions. "Naturally, based on the results of the certification, those who are professional and suitable for their positions will remain in their roles and be integrated into the new system," the Minister said. "The Ministry prioritizes the appointment of professional staff. Those deemed unsuitable based on the results will be subject to appropriate mechanisms in accordance with legislation."

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Ministry of Culture to modernize the country's library infrastructure. By implementing standardized competency assessments, the government aims to enhance the digital literacy and technical capabilities of library staff, ensuring that public institutions can better adapt to the evolving demands of the digital age and improve service delivery for citizens.
