Police in the Absheron district have apprehended a group of individuals suspected of stealing electrical cables valued at 19,000 manats, according to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Officers from the Saray Police Department of the Absheron District Police Office conducted an operation that led to the detention of Tural Heydarli, Said Gasimov, Binyat Bayramli, Ismayil Khidirov, and Rasif Aliyev. The suspects are accused of committing a series of thefts across various locations in the district.
Investigations revealed that the group systematically targeted electrical infrastructure, stealing cables worth 19,000 manats. Furthermore, authorities discovered that the suspects had also stolen electric motors and various other equipment from a private property. Additional inquiries linked one of the suspects, Rasif Aliyev, to a separate burglary at a local market, where he allegedly stole tobacco products, lottery tickets, and cash. Investigations into these criminal activities are currently ongoing.
Theft of public infrastructure, particularly electrical wiring, poses significant risks to the stability of local power grids and public safety. In Azerbaijan, law enforcement agencies frequently conduct operations to curb such property crimes, which often result in service disruptions for residents and financial losses for utility providers.
