XİN başçısı: Bakı və Moskva münasibətləri normallaşdırıb

The process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Russia has been successfully completed, largely due to the personal initiatives of both heads of state.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made this statement during a joint press conference following bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in Moscow on July 17.

"We faced difficulties in our bilateral relations in the recent past, and we are pleased to note that we have been able to turn that page and fully normalize the entire spectrum of our ties. This was made possible thanks to the personal stance of the presidents of our countries. The process began following a bilateral meeting between the two heads of state on the sidelines of an international event in Dushanbe," Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated.

According to the minister, the discussions with his Russian counterpart were "very comprehensive and productive."

"We were able to review the entire complex of measures. We also focused on the implementation of existing agreements discussed at the highest level, as well as prospects for cooperation in a number of new areas. The issue of trade and economic cooperation between our countries was addressed separately. Despite the challenges facing the global economy, we are pleased to note that this aspect of our relations remains positive," he added.

The relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia is anchored in a declaration on allied interaction signed in February 2022. This strategic partnership encompasses political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation, playing a significant role in regional stability and the broader geopolitical landscape of the South Caucasus.
