Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation to visit Northern Cyprus

An Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation is set to visit the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to participate in official events marking Peace and Freedom Day.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the delegation includes Javanshir Feyziyev, head of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Northern Cyprus, along with group members Arzu Naghiyev, chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security and Anti-Corruption, and Jala Aliyeva, deputy chair of the Committee on Family, Women and Children Affairs. The delegation also features Ahliman Amiraslanov, chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Healthcare and head of the working group on inter-parliamentary relations with Turkey, as well as group members Aghalar Valiyev and Heydar Asadov. The delegation will travel to the city of Nicosia.

The visit, organized at the invitation of Ziya Öztürkler, Speaker of the Assembly of Northern Cyprus, will take place from July 19 to 21. During this period, the deputies are scheduled to attend ceremonies dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of the Peace Operation, as well as participate in a series of high-level meetings.

The Peace Operation, which began in 1974, remains a significant historical event for Northern Cyprus. Such parliamentary visits serve to strengthen diplomatic ties and foster cooperation between the legislative bodies of Azerbaijan and Northern Cyprus, reflecting the ongoing commitment to bilateral engagement.
