Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Russia utilized North Korean-made ballistic missiles during recent strikes on the city of Zaporizhzhia.
According to the "Operative Information Center-OMM," Zelenskyy discussed the development in a video address. Ivan Fedorov, the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional administration, reported that the attacks resulted in at least six deaths and 19 injuries, causing significant damage to industrial facilities, civil infrastructure, and residential buildings.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia is struggling to sustain its military campaign without external support from North Korea. He warned that the involvement of North Korean missiles and troops in the European conflict significantly increases risks to global security. Previously, the Ukrainian leader claimed that approximately 50,000 North Korean soldiers had been deployed to fight alongside Russian forces.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military continues to target logistics centers and petrochemical facilities deep within Russian territory. Reports indicate explosions and fires at warehouses belonging to "Wildberries," one of Russia's largest online retailers, in the Voronezh region. Additionally, an attack on an oil refinery in Tatarstan reportedly left at least 13 dead, with reports suggesting foreign nationals were among the casualties. Ukrainian officials maintain that these strikes aim to degrade Russian military logistics and compel Moscow to engage in peace negotiations.
Amid these developments, air raid sirens were activated across Kyiv and other regions overnight. Ukraine's Air Defense Forces reported that Russia launched an attack involving over 120 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and various types of missiles. The strikes caused power outages in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions due to damage to electrical transmission lines, while a drone attack in Sumy left two women injured. Kyiv has urged caution regarding the sharing of military data to maintain the effectiveness of its air defense systems.
