Zelenski: Ukraynalılar nasizm üzərində qələbəyə töhfə veriblər

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that Ukrainians made a significant contribution to the victory over Nazism during World War II.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Zelenskyy shared these remarks on his Telegram channel in observance of May 8, the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism. The President emphasized that this date marks the end of the 20th century's most devastating conflict in Europe, noting that millions of Ukrainians fought within the ranks of various armies in the Anti-Hitler Coalition.

Ukraine was one of the primary theaters of military operations during World War II, suffering immense human and material losses. Historical estimates suggest that millions of Ukrainians perished during the conflict, which reshaped the borders and demographics of the region. In recent years, Ukraine has moved to align its commemorative practices with European traditions, officially designating May 8 as the day to honor those who fought against the Nazi regime, distinguishing its observances from the May 9 celebrations held in other post-Soviet states.
