Yaponiyada güclü yağışlar fəlakətə səbəb oldu: 13 ölü

Intensive rainfall in Japan's Chiba Prefecture, located near the capital Tokyo, has caused significant destruction over the past week.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, local authorities report that flooding triggered by the heavy rains has resulted in 13 fatalities, with one person currently listed as missing.

The natural disaster has inflicted severe damage on residential areas and local infrastructure. Official data indicates that approximately 66 homes have been rendered uninhabitable. For safety reasons, 63 residents have been evacuated from their homes and relocated to emergency shelters.

The flooding has also severely disrupted the region's transportation network. Reports suggest that nearly 2,500 vehicles, which drivers were forced to abandon during the floods, remain stranded on the roads.

Currently, relevant agencies are continuing rescue and recovery operations in the area, with measures underway to safely remove the abandoned vehicles from the roadways.

Japan is frequently affected by extreme weather events, including typhoons and heavy seasonal rains, which often lead to flash flooding and landslides. The country maintains robust disaster management protocols, yet the scale of recent climate-related incidents continues to challenge infrastructure resilience in prefectures like Chiba.
