Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has initiated urgent diplomatic measures to ensure the safety and security of its citizens aboard the "Global Sumud Flotilla," which is currently facing intervention by Israeli naval forces while attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was highlighted in an official statement released by the Turkish MFA. The ministry characterized the Israeli intervention as a violation of international law and called upon the international community to take a firm stance against these actions.

"All necessary steps are being taken in coordination with other countries regarding the status of our citizens and other passengers on the flotilla," the statement emphasized. The Israeli Navy reportedly began intercepting the "Global Sumud Flotilla" as it approached the coast of the Gaza Strip with the stated intent of breaking the ongoing naval blockade.

The "Global Sumud Flotilla" is part of a series of international maritime efforts aimed at delivering essential supplies to the Palestinian territory and drawing global attention to the humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Such missions often involve activists, journalists, and humanitarian workers from various nations. Historically, these encounters in international waters have led to significant diplomatic friction and have been a focal point for international discussions regarding maritime law and humanitarian access to conflict zones.
