Turkish law enforcement authorities have detained 83 individuals in connection with recent attacks targeting schools in the provinces of Sanliurfa and Kahramanmaras.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that as part of the ongoing investigation, judicial authorities have ordered the arrest of the suspects. The operation also targeted the digital infrastructure used to coordinate the incidents, resulting in the blocking of 940 social media accounts and the closure of 93 groups active on the Telegram messaging platform.
Officials stated that the investigation into crimes committed via digital platforms led to the identification and detention of six minors allegedly involved in criminal activities. The crackdown is part of a wider effort to curb the use of encrypted messaging and social networks for organizing provocations against public institutions and educational facilities.
Sanliurfa and Kahramanmaras, located in the southeastern and southern regions of Türkiye, have seen heightened security measures in recent months. This latest operation underscores the Turkish government's commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety of students and faculty. Authorities in Ankara have repeatedly warned that digital platforms will be closely monitored to prevent the spread of disinformation and the incitement of violence within the country.
