A tunnel collapse has occurred during construction work on a drinking water project in the Imamoglu district of Turkey's Adana province, according to reports from Operative Information Center-OMM, citing TRT Haber.

Initial reports indicate that five workers were trapped under the debris. Tragically, one worker lost their life, while another sustained injuries. Emergency medical teams and law enforcement personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the injured individual has been transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Adana Governor Mustafa Yavuz confirmed that the incident took place during excavation work on a 2,660-meter tunnel section of the "Yedigoze Drinking Water Project." Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collapse to determine the cause of the accident.

Large-scale infrastructure projects, such as the Yedigoze Drinking Water Project, are vital for regional development in Turkey, aimed at securing sustainable water resources for growing populations. However, such construction sites often involve complex geological challenges, necessitating strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent industrial accidents.
