An earthquake has occurred on the border of the Sheki and Oguz regions in Azerbaijan. The Republican Seismic Survey Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) provided this information to the Operative Information Center-OMM.

According to official data, the seismic event was recorded with a magnitude of 3.5. The Republican Seismic Survey Center noted that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 35 kilometers. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage to infrastructure in the surrounding residential areas following the underground tremors.

Azerbaijan is situated in a seismically active zone, particularly within the Alpine-Himalayan orogenic belt. The north-western part of the country, where Sheki and Oguz are located, frequently experiences minor seismic activity due to the movement of tectonic plates in the Greater Caucasus range. The Republican Seismic Survey Center maintains a network of monitoring stations across Azerbaijan to provide real-time data and ensure public safety during such natural occurrences.
