On January 23, the Ministry of Internal Affairs held an expanded board meeting dedicated to the results of activities in the fight against crime, the protection of public order, and the provision of public safety in 2025, as well as the upcoming tasks for the current year.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Interior Minister Vilayat Eyvazov stated during the meeting that thanks to the law enforcement policy successfully implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, stability based on solid foundations was reliably protected in 2025, which was designated as the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty." The minister emphasized that service duties in the fields of combating crime, protecting public order, and defending human rights and freedoms were worthily performed. Security was reliably ensured during international and national mass events, as well as in the liberated territories.

The report highlighted that 31,852 crimes were registered across all state bodies involved in operational-search and investigative activities, with 90.5 percent of them solved. Within the jurisdiction of the internal affairs and prosecution authorities, 29,572 crimes were investigated, with a clearance rate of 93.5 percent. Notably, 100 percent of homicides, intentional serious harm to health, robberies, and muggings were solved. Furthermore, 1,033 individuals who committed serious and especially serious crimes were arrested, and 214 criminal groups were neutralized.

In the fight against illegal drug trafficking, 5,675 kilograms of narcotics were removed from circulation—961 kilograms more than in 2024. Additionally, 3,315 websites and social media accounts promoting religious radicalism, criminal lifestyles, online drug sales, and illegal gambling were identified and blocked. In the liberated regions of Garabagh and East Zangazur, police and the Internal Troops successfully performed their duties to support the acceleration of the "Great Return" program.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to prioritize citizen satisfaction and transparency through digital transformation. The "E-Polis" mobile application, which facilitates the acquisition of documents and information, was further improved, reaching over 825,000 registered users by the end of last year. These initiatives are part of Azerbaijan's broader efforts to modernize law enforcement infrastructure and enhance the social protection of personnel, ensuring that the Republic of Azerbaijan remains one of the safest countries in the region.
