A total of 79 individuals were hospitalized due to various types of poisoning at the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Medical Center (KTM) in Azerbaijan during April 2026.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the medical center reported that 74 patients were successfully stabilized and discharged for outpatient treatment following necessary medical interventions. The cases involved a wide range of substances, including 31 instances of medication overdose, 19 cases of acetic acid poisoning, five involving rodenticides, and three cases of snake bites. Other incidents included allergic reactions, alcohol poisoning, and exposure to organophosphorus compounds.

Despite intensive medical efforts, five fatalities were recorded, including one woman and four men. "The primary causes of death were toxic conditions resulting from the consumption of alcohol, organophosphorus compounds, and acetic acid," the center stated in its official report. The Clinical Medical Center, located in Baku, serves as the primary facility in the Republic of Azerbaijan for treating acute poisoning and chemical exposure, providing specialized emergency care for patients across the country.
